The Lily is used on days of celebration like weddings or festivals and even days of grief such as funerals. In Buddhism the Lily is a sign of enlightenment and impermanence of life.
Spider Lilys or in other words the Hell Flower grow along the banks of the Sanzu River to welcome the newly departed spirit. In Buddhism the flowers are said to also grow in the realm of the dead\hell the idea is that the flowers will guide you to the path of reincarnation.
